Worlds of Fun in Kansas City!!
The Beacons Youth Group had a great time in Kansas City on Saturday, June 18th, 2005. Members, chaperones and guests enjoyed the day's events which began at 5:30 a.m. when the group met at the church to pray, load up and hit the road. We stopped in Cawker City to pick up Kenny and before we knew it, we were pulling in to Kansas State University to pick up Ben. Kayla was happy to see him after his week of Boy's State activities. We were a little confused on directions after we made it in to Kansas City since there was quite a bit of bridge work, road work and detours, but John, Phil and Oly worked together to get us on the right track. We made it to the park about 45 minutes after it opened and headed inside. Most of the group members took off in their own directions, but we kept in constant contact with the walkie-talkie radios. We enjoyed spending time with the kids as they came around every now and then--obviously having a great time. We met up for an all-you-can-eat bbq lunch and then it was off and running again. I would say the highlight of the day had to be watching Denny, Seth and Ben bungee jump and Oly and Joey right after them. What a blast! I was exhausted afterward and asked Oly to drive home. This seemed to cause some discomfort in the Durango, but thank God we all made it home safely and in one piece! Look for pictures coming soon! God bless you and take care.
In His Love,
Tonja
